The Giving Tree Sponsorship Program brings our community together to make the holiday season a little brighter for children and families in need throughout Union County. For more than 20 years, the UCPS Exceptional Children Social Work Department has supported students with developmental disabilities and their families by connecting them with critical resources and providing assistance during times of need. Formerly known as the Angel Sponsorship Program, The Giving Tree continues that tradition of caring during the holiday season by connecting generous individuals, families, businesses, and organizations with children who might otherwise go without Christmas gifts.
Your Generosity Makes a Difference
Thanks to the incredible support of our community, more than 200 children and 18–20 families received assistance during the 2025 holiday season. Every sponsored child represents more than gifts under a tree. Your generosity lets a child know that someone in their community is thinking of them, caring for them, and helping make their Christmas special.

We invite individuals, families, businesses, civic groups, churches, and other organizations to include The Giving Tree in their holiday giving plans this year. Whether you sponsor one child or participate as a group, your kindness can help create a joyful holiday memory for a local child and provide meaningful support to a family in our community. Together, we can spread joy and make the holidays brighter for children and families throughout Union County. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, families, teachers, staff, volunteers, and community partners who make The Giving Tree possible each year.
To sponsor an individual or family:
- submit the form below by October 16th
- SHARE this giving opportunity with family & friends!
- October 30th, you will receive recipient information and their holiday wish list
- shop for your student or family
- all gifts must be returned to the EC Office or picked up by December 4th
