Terrific Kids

TERRIFIC Kids is a student-recognition program for children that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance. Students are recognized for modifying behavior and demonstrating TERRIFIC virtues. This program encourages students to become the best version of themselves, focusing on character building and goal setting.
Teachers select students who have shown improvement or consistency in positive behavior, rather than just academic achievement. Each school has a ceremony for these students where family members are invited to see their child receive the award.
The Kiwanis Club of Monroe's Terrific Kids Program is in all elementary schools in the UCPS district and Union Academy.
TERRIFIC is an acronym that stands for:
Thoughtful - considering the feelings and needs of others
Enthusiastic - demonstrating feelings of excitement and interest
Respectful - considerate, polite, and courteous
Responsible - dependable and can be trusted
Inclusive - everyone is welcome
Friendly - kind and helpful
Inquisitive - questioning or curious, eager to learn
Capable - able to do a task or job
